Omega Genève Ref. 166.0173 – Tropical Dial & Original Stahlarmband von 1973

Omega Genève Ref. 166.0173 – Tropical Dial & Original Steel Bracelet from 1973

The Omega Genève Ref. 166.0173 from 1973 is an exceptional vintage watch with a particularly characterful Tropical Dial and the original Omega steel bracelet. The watch was freshly serviced by us in August 2026 and impresses with excellent technical measurements.

The originally blue dial has developed an attractive and even patina over the decades. This natural change gives the watch its very own character and makes each example of such a Tropical Dial a unique historical witness.

An Exceptional Tropical Dial

The special highlight of this Genève is undoubtedly the Tropical Dial. The formerly blue dial has developed a unique color effect due to natural aging, giving the watch a distinctly interesting vintage look.

The dial is rated Good and shows precisely the characterful aging that vintage watch enthusiasts particularly appreciate in Tropical Dials.

Together with the stainless steel case, an exciting contrast is created between the cool metal and the warmly aged dial.

Original Omega Acrylic Crystal

Another beautiful detail is the still-fitted original Omega acrylic crystal. This has been professionally polished and, according to our assessment, is in Good condition.

This preserves important original components of the watch and underlines its authentic vintage character.

36 mm Stainless Steel Case with Original Steel Bracelet

The 36 mm stainless steel case is in Very Good condition. The case has been professionally reconditioned and the finish has been revised according to its original design.

The bezel is in Mint condition and has been polished to a high shine.

Particularly interesting is the original Omega steel bracelet, which has a length of approximately 19 cm. The shiny and satin-finished areas have been reconditioned accordingly, with the satin-finished surface professionally restored. The bracelet is overall in Very Good condition.

Omega Caliber 1012

Inside, the automatic Omega Caliber 1012 works with a manufacturer-specified power reserve of approximately 42 hours.

The movement was cleaned, oiled, and regulated in August 2026. Subsequently, the entire watch was professionally cleaned and inspected.

The results on the Timegrapher are exceptionally convincing for a vintage watch of this generation: -1 second per day, an amplitude of 242°, and a beat error of only 0.1 ms.

The rate accuracy is rated Very Good and confirms the technically excellent impression of the watch.

Freshly Serviced in August 2026

As part of the refurbishment, the movement was completely cleaned, oiled, and regulated. Additionally, a professional cleaning and inspection of the entire watch were carried out.

The stainless steel case was professionally reconditioned, the bezel polished to a high shine, and the satin-finished areas of the original steel bracelet were accordingly refinished.

The original acrylic crystal was also professionally polished.
